"I think a draw is the minimum for what we expect, we will go there and work hard to keep a clean sheet and then if we can snatch a win then that would be even better. I just don't think we can afford to drop anymore points at this stage of the season."
- Elliot Dye

Coming off the back of a frustrating 2–1 defeat to Bridlington Town, Lincoln United will be eager to put things right as they head into a demanding week that includes two huge fixtures and two long away trips. An Elliot Dye penalty proved not enough to secure a point, as The Whites were reduced to ten men shortly after drawing level.

Next up for Lincoln United is a trip north to fellow relegation battlers Blyth Town, in a match that promises to see both sides go full throttle in pursuit of all three points. Despite the setback at the weekend, the interim management team of Dave Frecklington, Darren Dye and James Morgan has overseen many positive signs, with performance levels, team cohesion and the overall atmosphere around the squad continuing to improve.

The visitors in this fixture have previous form against Tuesday night’s opponents, having secured a 1–0 victory earlier in the season on 27th September. On that occasion, an Elliot Dye penalty proved decisive, and despite a Jaime Ture red card shortly before half-time, United battled well to claim an important result — something they will be hoping to repeat on Tuesday night.

Blyth Town come into this fixture bottom of the table in the Northern Premier League East Division, five points adrift of safety but with valuable games in hand. They have collected 24 points from 28 games, with just three points taken from their last five matches — a 4–0 away victory at North Ferriby. As the season enters its closing stages, there is no doubt Blyth Town remain firmly in the relegation battle, and they will be looking to make a statement on Tuesday night against one of the division’s in-form sides.

Lincoln United, on the other hand, have been looking up the table in recent weeks. Unbeaten in the six matches prior to Saturday’s defeat at Bridlington Town, there are plenty of reasons to suggest that setback was little more than a blip, and United will be looking to return to their previous form in midweek. With ten points taken from their last five games, United have effectively earned a third of their season’s points tally in that short spell, peaking at a crucial stage of the campaign. The visitors sit nine points and seven places above Blyth Town in the table, with Tuesday night presenting an opportunity to pull further clear of the relegation zone.

Lincoln United Captain, Elliot Dye, shared his thoughts on our midweek encounter:

"I think a draw is the minimum for what we expect, we will go there and work hard to keep a clean sheet and then if we can snatch a win then that would be even better. I just don't think we can afford to drop anymore points at this stage of the season."

As Tuesday approaches, everyone at Lincoln United would like to thank all supporters for making the journey up north as your support continues to be as crucial as ever in these vital matches.

Up The Whites!
