Harlow Town 3 V 6 Haringey Borough

Ray Dyer24 Feb - 21:48

Haringey Borough produced a dominant attacking display to overwhelm Harlow Town in a chaotic nine‑goal encounter.

Harlow began the match trying to settle into possession, but an early miscommunication at the back nearly gifted Haringey an opening. The visitors enjoyed more of the ball in the early stages, though neither goalkeeper was seriously tested.

Haringey took the lead on 13 minutes when Matthew Young struck from distance, finding the top corner with a powerful effort. A second followed on 23 minutes after a through ball split the defence, leaving Jonathan Hippolyte to finish.

Despite the score line, Harlow continued to work hard off the ball, but Haringey’s pressure told again late in the half. A looping header from George Djassi Sambu on 41 minutes made it 0–3, and an unfortunate own goal just before the break left Harlow trailing 0–4 at half‑time.

It was a tough opening 45 minutes, but the team’s response after the interval showed exactly the kind of character supporters expect.

Harlow came out transformed—aggressive, confident, and determined to make a game of it. Within two minutes of the restart, they had their reward. A superbly delivered corner was met by Fred Agyemang, who powered home a brilliant header to ignite the comeback at 1–4.

Although Haringey briefly restored their advantage through Young’s second goal, Harlow refused to fold. They continued to push forward, and their belief paid off again on 63 minutes. Another dangerous set piece caused problems, with Fabion Simms rising well before Agyeman reacted quickest to score his second of the night and make it 2–5.

Just moments later, Harlow produced the goal of the match. After a foul on the edge of the box, Jack Cousins stepped up and curled a stunning free‑kick into the top‑right corner from 25 yards. At 3–5, the momentum was firmly with the home side, and the crowd responded.

Even after Haringey added a sixth through Rio Griffiths, Harlow continued to create chances. Dwight James went close late on, driving forward and firing just over as the team pushed for a fourth.

The final score doesn’t tell the full story. Harlow’s second‑half performance was full of energy, quality, and belief.
Key positives included:

Agyemang’s brace, showing sharpness and aerial strength

Cousins’ outstanding free‑kick, a genuine highlight

Improved attacking play, with multiple chances created

A strong reaction after a difficult first half

There’s plenty to build on, especially the resilience and attacking threat shown after the break. With that level of fight, Harlow will take confidence into the next fixture.
