It was a return to form for the travelling Whites against Blyth Town, bagging three goals through Connor Brown, Sam Swinn and Brad Wells.

It was a quiet opening ten minutes as no team was able to get a proper grasp on the game, a few balls scrambled but nothing of notable quality to really tip the balance in one way. After the initial grace period, the action of the game really began.

In the 16th and 19th minute, we were offered two great chances via a headed corner by Jack Dando that was cleared off the line and a misplaced ball to an unmarked Connor Brown in the box that was sure fire to open the scoring. Shortly after, Blyth Town responded with their own threats, firing off two shots that ricocheted off the visiting defence both times.

In the 26th minute, we earned a corner and Connor Brown got his reward for being in the right place at the right time. Alan Power swung the ball into the box as it dropped onto the floor in a scramble that Brown was well positioned to take advantage of, smashing it into the back of the net.

It didn't take much longer to double that lead, with another set-piece providing dividends. A long throw-in found space in the box as Sam Swinn outmuscled his man to get away a shot into the top corner in the 30th minute.

As we continued to push forward with gathering momentum, Brad Wells went down after a tussle against a Blyth defender in the penalty area. It was waved away by the referee as the home side faithfully played to the whistle, springing a counter-attack that had to be denied by Richardson. Wells stayed down for a few minutes as he was seen to by the physios but not enough contact was deemed for a penalty at the time.

After the break, we look destined to restart how we left off. In the 52nd minute, a charging Charlie Carlisle broke through the lines to find Wells on the edge of the box. He saw the goalkeeper off his line and tried his luck with an audaciously far out chip that was denied only by the woodwork.

Evidently not disheartened, Wells let loose an effort to stretch the keeper into the far left corner from the edge of the box once again, this time rewarded with adding his name to the score sheet in the 58th minute.

Now with a three-nil buffer, Brown still couldn't be sated as he nearly widened the margin further, dragging a shot only a centimetre wide during a one-on-one with the goalkeeper.

Richardson wasn't to be forgotten either, as he was urgently called into action in the 65th and 82nd minute to deny an advancing home side against the run of play. A scramble kept him on his toes with a double save that looked destined to taint his clean sheet before being cleared away by a green shirt.

We saw new signing Haydn Havard in action on the night, tagging in for Connor Brown in the 73rd minute. Combined with an energetic Janssen, who also joined the fray in the 70th minute, the pair caught Blyth Town in possession multiple times as they attempted to find their own way back into the game.

When the final whistle went, it was a happy scene. Our long awaited first away win of the campaign arrived in some fashion and continued to build on the strong run of form that Dave Frecklington's side is building. Another three points achieved climbed us up to 13th in the table after thirty-one games.

Up the Whites.
